Chapter I: The Early Years.

The history of the Ambegia's goes back to the Philippines in the late 1800's. Back then, before there were Ambegias, there lived three siblings, Pascuala, Ekong, and Raymondo Ramos. Pascuala, Ekong, and Undong (Raymondo) lived in Binmaley, a town in Pangasinan , the westernmost province of the Philippine island of Luzon. The siblings each married at least once and had children except for Pascuala who had none. In fact, Pascuala had married twice and was unable to have children.

Meanwhile, Ekong had three children, Nenet, Yayaw, and Dadang, and resided in the barrios of Kitegan, Tonton, in Binmaley, Pangasinan . Accordingly, Undong married a woman from Malasiqui , Pangasinan , named Maria, and had three children. They were Ambrosio, Juan, and Epay, who had died. When Ambrosio was born, Undong and Maria asked Pascuala and second husband, Gabriel Ambegia, to register Ambrosio. In those days, certain countries required that babies be registered after being delivered because most babies were not born in hospitals. At the time, Maria was ill and Ambrosio needed to be registered at the town as soon as possible. Without Undong and Maria's knowledge, Ambrosio was registered under the name Ambegia. To this day, Ambegia is still used by Ambrosio's decendents.

Later on, Maria discovered Undong had a mistress. She then took Juan and Ambrosio with her and moved to Malasiqui . There Juan and Ambrosio grew up. As an adult, Ambrosio Ambegia travelled around the country. During one of his travels in the late 1920's, Ambrosio met and married Rufina Albano. Ambrosio was previously married with two kids, Gabriel and Durang, but he spent his life with Rufina and they had ten children. Their names are Mauro, Cidring, Juaning, Cipring, Erning, Zena, Linda, Oscar, Joe, and Elsa.
